How to Access Your Wi-Fi Router’s Settings

How to Access Your WiFi Routers Settings

If you’ve just bought a new Wi-Fi enabled laptop or tablet, then one of the first things that you might ask yourself is ‘How to access my Wi-Fi router’s settings?’ Setting up and using a Wi-Fi network is quite easy as long as you follow the instructions that come with your hardware. Most routers will let you connect to them either by using SSID (wireless network identification number) based networks or by using your computer’s name in the address or go to 192.168.o.1. These settings can sometimes be confusing and so it’s always a good idea to refer to the documentation that came with your equipment. In some cases it’s as simple as entering your computer’s name followed by the number you are trying to connect to.

Before you can actually set up this type of network you’ll need to enter into the configuration settings of your equipment. You do this by clicking onto the ‘Wireless Internet Connection’ icon from your main menu. It’s usually set by default to the name you have entered. Once you have done this you should see a series of numbers starting from zero that are displayed on the screen. This is the SSID for your network.

Now you just need to find the setting that corresponds to your SSID. This is usually referred to as’SSID mask’. You can then enter any settings that you wish to use. The number that you have entered will become’dhclient_sec’. You need to double click on this number and look at the settings that are now available. Most settings are controlled by a password that cannot be changed until you have a locked entry.

If you want to know how to access your wi-fi router’s settings you can then move onto a more technical topic. You can access your pc’s wireless settings with the help of a software tool called WAPooter. This is a free software program that will enable you to access your router’s settings. Simply download WAPooter onto your computer, install it and then let it manage your wireless connection. Most settings are managed automatically for you.

To test this out first try changing some of the settings, such as the port number and the browser settings. Click to view the current network settings. You will see a summary page showing all of your network’s details. The number that you enter here will be the primary network’s name. The following fields are also important, enter the ones you know or that you are familiar with if they vary. If you are not sure what these values mean, see your internet provider.

Next, click on the Wireless Connection icon and you will see the password entry box. Enter a strong password and hit the Save button. If you have changed the default network name, just enter the one you want to use now. If you are changing the password, just enter a different one and hit the Save button. Now your router is set up and you can log on using your new login details.

In order to access the internet from your mobile phone you need a web browser. To do this go to your devices’ settings (usually on the settings tab), find the web browser you are currently using and click on it to open it up. If you have entered the default network name and password, you can simply click on the browser’s name to access your internet.

There is one more option available to you. If you are able to see the advanced section of your Wi-Fi router’s control panel then you can change the SSID of your wireless network. This is also useful if you have changed the SSID of your existing wireless network. With this change, you’ll be able to see all your networks connected and browse to websites via your smartphone as if you were sitting in front of your computer at home. How to access your Wi-Fi router’s settings isn’t that hard after all.
